Athletic Speed, Strength & Biometrics Guide
Module 3: Training the Rotational Athlete Behind the Golf Club
Golf analytics tell you where you lost shots on the course, but they cannot fix why you don't have the speed to reach a 440-yard Par 4 in two.
CoreGolf treats the golfer as a rotational athlete. Distance and durability are physical outputs built in the gym, calibrated on the speed radar, and governed by systemic recovery. This guide details how to track and optimize your second pillar.
1. The Speed Tools Garage & CNS Fatigue Coaching
Clubhead speed is neurological—it is dictated by how fast your Central Nervous System (CNS) can recruit fast-twitch muscle fibers.
Managing Your Speed Implements
Inside Settings → Speed Tools Garage, you maintain a dedicated inventory of your speed implements (e.g. Driver, Blue Stick, Hiits Light, SuperSpeed, Rypstick, or The Stack).
When tracking speed sessions:
- Dual Metric Logging (Club & Ball Speed): Log your pure clubhead velocity (mph) on dry swings, and record both club speed and ball speed when hitting real balls on launch monitors to calculate Smash Factor.
- Automated CNS Fatigue Drop-Off Logic: Speed training operates on quality, not exhaustion. If your peak speeds drop by more than 3–5 mph during a session, your nervous system is fatigued. CoreGolf automatically flags CNS drop-offs and coaches you to stop swinging to prevent training your brain to move slowly.
- Peak vs. Baseline Trendlines: Interactive Canvas charts track your all-time peak outputs vs. rolling session averages.
2. Gym Strength & The Epley e1RM Formula
To measure real-world strength progress without dangerous 1-rep max attempts under heavy barbells, CoreGolf normalizes every set into an Estimated 1-Rep Max (e1RM) ceiling using the validated Epley Equation:
e1RM = Weight × [ 1 + ( Reps / 30 ) ]
| Workout Logged |
Mathematical Calculation |
Standardized e1RM Ceiling |
| Trap Bar Deadlift: 315 lbs × 5 reps |
315 × [ 1 + (5 / 30) ] = 315 × 1.167 |
367.5 lbs |
| Trap Bar Deadlift: 335 lbs × 3 reps |
335 × [ 1 + (3 / 30) ] = 335 × 1.100 |
368.5 lbs (+1.0 lb gain) |
| Dumbbell Bench Press: 80 lbs × 8 reps |
80 × [ 1 + (8 / 30) ] = 80 × 1.267 |
101.4 lbs e1RM |
| Black Band Single Arm Press: Black Band (40 lbs) × 15 reps |
40 × [ 1 + (15 / 30) ] = 40 × 1.500 |
60.0 lbs e1RM |
Why e1RM Matters for Golfers: You don't have to lift a dangerous single rep to test your strength. Whether you lift 8 reps with dumbbells, 12 reps on cables, or 3 heavy reps under a barbell, CoreGolf normalizes the data to prove whether your rotational power ceiling is rising!
3. Hands-Free AI Voice Workout Logger
Fiddling with tiny screen buttons between heavy sets ruins workout focus. CoreGolf features an automated Voice AI Logger:
- How It Works: Tap the microphone between sets and speak naturally:
"Trap bar deadlift, 315 pounds for 5 reps." or "Driver speed, 124 club, 183 ball."
- Automatic Movement Categorization: Speak any dumbbell, barbell, machine, or bodyweight exercise:
"Dumbbell chest press, 70 pounds, 8 reps." or "Cable woodchops, 45 pounds, 12 reps."
The Gemini AI parses the movement, assigns it to your active workout session, and calculates your set volume and e1RM automatically.
- Calibrated Band Color Translation: Speak your band color directly:
"Black band rotational press, 12 reps."
The Gemini AI immediately detects your Black Band and auto-populates 40 lbs of calibrated resistance into your ledger.
Default Calibrations: Yellow = 10 lbs Blue = 20 lbs Green = 30 lbs Black = 40 lbs Red = 50 lbs (fully editable in Settings → Fitness Dictionary → Bands tab; stack multiple bands seamlessly in set details).
- Ghost Target Overload Cards: The logging screen surfaces your previous best outputs on that movement, giving you an immediate progressive overload target for your next set.
- Anti-Process-Death Auto-Draft Engine: Training in a garage or basement where your phone locks? Every spoken set is immediately appended to an active draft buffer on disk. If Android kills the app during a 3-minute set rest, reopening the logger automatically restores all your sets with a 💾 Draft Saved banner. Zero sets lost.
4. 28-Day Recovery Heatmap & Cardio Engine
Recovery is where adaptations happen. Inside the Fitness Hub, the CARDIO tab provides a GitHub-style 28-day compliance heatmap:
Two Modes of Metabolic Tracking
- Engine Mode (Cardiovascular TRIMP): Tracks aerobic capacity sessions (running, rowing, cycling, turf intervals) and calculates your training impulse score and duration volume.
- Recovery Mode (Parasympathetic Protocols): Tracks contrast therapy, cold plunges (3–4 mins), infrared saunas (20–25 mins), and mobility routines. The 28-day visual heatmap gives you immediate visual accountability over your recovery habits.
5. Daily Morning Readiness & Biometrics
The first thing a CoreGolf athlete does every morning is complete the ☀️ Morning Readiness Check-In:
| Biometric Field |
Unit |
Diagnostic Value for Golfers |
| Subjective Readiness |
1 to 10 Scale |
Self-reported energy, muscle soreness, and mental focus. |
| Heart Rate Variability (HRV) |
ms (rMSSD) |
Direct autonomic nervous system biomarker. High HRV indicates readiness for speed training; depressed HRV signals systemic fatigue. |
| Resting Heart Rate (RHR) |
bpm |
Elevated morning RHR indicates incomplete recovery, dehydration, or illness. |
| Sleep Quality Score |
1–100 pts |
Evaluates restorative sleep architecture. |
| Structural Tape Measurements |
Inches / lbs |
Tracks physical body composition changes: Weight, Body Fat %, Chest, Waist, Biceps, and Quads. |
The Training Decision: If morning HRV is high and RHR is low, schedule your high-intensity overspeed radar work or heavy deadlifts. If HRV is suppressed, pivot to mobility, putting gate mechanics, or a light recovery protocol.
